Dr Tay Liang Kiat is a fully accredited Dermatologist who specialises in skin cancers, Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic and nail surgery, aesthetic dermatology and laser procedures. With more than 20 years of clinical experience, he also manages other aspects of general ambulatory and inpatient dermatology, including eczema, psoriasis, acne, urticaria, hair loss, children skin issues and other complex medical dermatology. In addition, he has expertise in the use of the latest immunotherapy (biologics) treatment for severe eczema, psoriasis and urticaria.

Dr Tay was formerly a Consultant Dermatologist and Mohs Micrographic Surgeon at Changi General Hospital, Singapore where he headed the dermatologic surgery, skin cancer and Mohs Surgery services. He was also previously the Head of the eczema clinic, managing patients with severe eczema, and was a visiting consultant dermatologist at the Singapore Armed Forces Military Medicine Institute. Prior to setting up Stratum Skin and Surgery, Dr Tay was the senior Dermatologic and Mohs Surgeon at a dermatology private group practice.

Academic Journey and Fellowship Training in UK (Oxford)

A graduate of the University of Glasgow Medical School (UK), Dr Tay subsequently obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and proceeded to complete his dermatology advanced specialist training at the Singapore General Hospital and National Skin Centre, qualifying as a Ministry of Health accredited Dermatologist.
After receiving the HMDP fellowship award by the Ministry, Dr Tay underwent further subspecialty training in advanced dermatologic surgery and Mohs Micrographic Surgery at Oxford, one of the largest regional Mohs referral centre in the UK, where he completed his Mohs fellowship. He had the opportunity to work closely with the Oxford Mohs team of 4 prominent and highly regarded Mohs surgeons, learning and refining the craft of skin cancer and reconstructive surgery. Dr Tay also pursued his other interest in nail surgery with skills honed from training stints in Europe under the mentorship of world leading nail experts.

Awards and Teaching

Active in dermatology research and education, Dr Tay has publications in numerous international peer-reviewed journals, and has presented his research works at local, regional and international dermatology congresses and scientific meetings. Dr Tay was a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, involved in the training of medical undergraduates and fellow doctors. He is also a regular invited speaker for both medical seminars and public education.
A strong believer in patient advocacy, Dr Tay’s dedication to the care of his patients is exemplified by the numerous service quality accolades throughout his career in recognition of excellent patient care. He has received the Singapore General Hospital Service with a Heart Awards and the Changi General Hospital Service Excellence Gold Awards on multiple occasions, and many other service quality awards. He has also received a National EXSA Award for service excellence from SPRING Singapore.
Dr Tay is on the Chapter of Dermatology, College of Physicians (Singapore) and an inducted Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (Dermatology). He is also a member of the Dermatological Society of Singapore, Singapore Medical Association, Member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow UK), and conferred Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh UK).
